Inauguration and Expectation
I attended the inauguration of President Obama on Tuesday and it was a very humbling experience. I was struck by the huge number of challenges facing our new President. As we all know, the nation is suffering from a major economic crisis and the world is looking to Washington, DC for solutions.
2009 Advocacy Trip to Washington DC
Next week I will return to Washington, DC for our annual advocacy visit with elected officials to discuss the needs of the youth we work with, especially the long term housing needs we see so many of our older youth struggle with. It is my hope that the infrastructure development programs coming out of federal government geared toward economic recovery will complement our plans to develop housing for youth who have "aged out" of the child welfare system.
W-2 Alert
If you have moved in the past year, please check with Priscilla to make sure your current address is in our database. W2 earnings statements will be mailed out to all staff within the next week and we want to make sure that we get this important document to you without delay.
Roof Projects Begin
Both Whitney House and Passages will be getting new roof shingles starting this week. The projects should conclude next week, weather permitting. Please use caution around the construction equipment.
As always, thank you all for your continued hard work on behalf of our youth.
Sincerely,
