Vol. 5, No. 17, August 23, 2007
The Executive Director's News is published every two weeks, and is specifically written for the employees, board of trustees and friends of the Somerset Home. This issue and past issues are available on our web site at http://www.somersethome.org/main/pages/employee_newsletter.htm.
Pathways Gets a New Counselor
Jessica Angley has joined Somerset Home as an independent-living skills counselor in the Pathways program. Jessica graduated from Rutgers with a bachelors degree in psychology and brings experience from Easter Seals New Jersey, where she helped group home residents with daily living activities, including counseling and financial issues. We welcome Jessica to the Pathways team.
Tichina Takes on a New Role
Independent-living skills counselor Tichina Smith “practices what she preaches” when she helps our residents prepare for adulthood. She and husband are preparing for a major change in their lives – the arrival of a baby girl. To help with that preparation, co-workers showered the couple with gifts that were both practical and pretty. We wish them well as they add parenting to their list of life skills.
Employee Benefit Spotlight: Tuition Reimbursement Program
Have you wanted to get your Master's degree but were putting it off because of the tuition expenses? Help is available.
Somerset Home has a tuition reimbursement program which may be found on the web site at http://www.somersethome.org/main/doc/tuition reimbursement policy 7.31.06.doc.
Tuition reimbursement will be based on 50% of the Rutgers University tuition rate and you must meet qualifications and be approved in advance of the course start date. Please read the policy and let me know if you have any questions. We are accepting applications for the Fall semester and applications must be submitted seven days before the course begins.

The 9th annual Run for Runaways will be here before we know it! We still need major sponsors, ad sponsors, and volunteers to help with our big event on November 3, 2007. Please contact Joe Godby if you would like to serve on the committee or help with one of the many tasks involved in this exciting event. Check out the web site at http://www.runforrunaways.com for more details. Funds raised go to directly benefit our residents. I look forward to seeing you there!
As always, thank you all for your continued hard work on behalf of our youth.
Sincerely,
