Brahma House Grand (Re)Opening!

The day has finally arrived. After nearly three months of painstaking repair work the Brahma House facility has been completely renovated. Our crisis intervention program is once again able to provide a safe haven for the abused, neglected and runaway youth who need us. The rooms are ready, the staff is ready, and the welcome mat is out. We are excited about the busy, productive summer ahead.

Thank you to all of the Brahma House program staff who scrubbed, dusted, cleaned, sorted, removed trash, moved furniture, washed windows and pitched in to do all of those jobs not on your job description but that needed doing! The end is near...I promise.

Barbara Kreutzer Retires

Gary and Barbara Kreutzer are pictured above at the annual Run for Runaways. After nearly 19 years at Somerset Home, Barbara Kreutzer has retired from her duties as manager of administrative services. I would like to thank Barbara for her many years of service to Somerset Home! We wish her well.

Somerset Home Welcomes New Staff

Erica Maccia has moved up from Passages resident advisor to Whitney House case manager.

Nick Myers, Pathways independent living skills counselor can be found most days at the Somerset County Vocational Technical School Linkages program but on Fridays he is based at Passages working in the Pathways program.

Priscilla Szlachtianchyn, our new administrative services coordinator manages employee benefits, payroll, and property and casualty insurance.

Rick Dejesus, one of our newest staff members has taken the reigns as our My Place TLP case manager.

Welcome and best of luck to the newest members of our team!

Statehouse Rally for Cost of Providing Care

On May 31, 2007 an estimated 5,000 human services supporters rallyed in front of the statehouse to push for a 4.1% increase in fiscal year 2008 contract renewals. As president of the New Jersey Alliance for Children, Youth and Families, I addressed the crowd of 5,000 human service workers and our own Lorenzo McLucas, My Place resident, spoke from the client's perspective. Pictured above are members of our staff: Megan Kayser (lower center left), Alison Mathewson (to her right) and Anna Gomah (to Alison's right) and Jeanmarie Albert (just above Anna).

As always, thank you all for your continued hard work on behalf of our youth.

Sincerely,
