My Place II - A Dream Come True
On January 30, 2006 Somerset Home bought this home on Whitney Drive in Bridgewater which will soon become our newest program, My Place II. My Place II will be a home to five youth making the transition from adolescence to adulthood.
Youth at My Place II will engage in the same positive youth development activities as those youth who participate in the MPI program including, career development, attending college or other post-secondary educational program and preparing for that first big step into adulthood.
The target date for opening My Place II is March 1, 2006. When My Place II opens, we will have met our goal to expand our transitional living programs to 20 beds.
We are currently looking to hire a full-time case manager for the new program and if you are interested please contact Alex Ciccone, program director.
New Staff Meeting Schedule
A new staff meeting schedule will start in February. Both Brahma House and all of the TLP/ILP programs will have a program staff meeting at 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the same day. This new structure will give all staff an opportunity to attend the program staff meeting at a time that works best for you.
In addition, we will begin having monthly "joint" staff meeting which will consist of a training program and a guest speaker. I am hopeful that this monthly meeting will become an opportunity to improve communication of employee benefits, such as health insurance, dental insurance, credit union or pension plan and also provide a time where guest speakers can present important information on topics related to our work with youth.
I also look forward to attending these monthly meetings as a way of hearing directly from everyone on a variety of agency issues.
Please contact Carla Grabert for further information on the '8th Annual Run for Runaways' or for assistance in setting up your personal fund raising page.
As always, thank you all for your continued hard work on behalf of our youth.
Sincerely,
