Marshall Christie appointed Acting Brahma House Director

Brahma House Assistant Director, Marshall Christie, has been promoted to acting Brahma House director. Marshall has been with Somerset Home for 17 years. Marshall has extensive experience in staff training and working with runaway and homeless youth. In 1996, he received the child care worker of the year award from the New Jersey Association of Residential Facilities (now the New Jersey Alliance for Children, Youth and Families). He is steadfast in his loyalty to the mission of the agency and we welcome Marshall to his new capacity as acting program director.

New Flooring and Carpeting for Brahma House

The bids are due tomorrow and we expect to get to work right away on replacing carpeting and flooring in the high traffic areas of Brahma House. Being installed will be new carpeting in the TV room, library and stairway with new tile in the dining room. We are hopeful the job will be completed in time for the holiday party on December 21st.

Annual New York City Trip Planned

On December 20th the big bus will arrive to pick up 36 staff and kids and take them to our annual Holiday trip to New York City. We will have dinner at Applebees on 42nd Street, take a stroll past the tree in Rockefeller Plaza and then it's off to see the new Broadway musical, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". It should be a great evening of entertainment and lasting memories. This year's trip is sponsored by the Dombal-Vogel Foundation.

Funding Update

Our capital campaign received three grants this past week: $15,000 from the Hyde and Watson Foundation, $10,000 from the Ruth and Peter Metz Foundation, and $500 from the Soldoveri Foundation. We are happy to announce all of our capital projects for 2007 are now fully funded.

We were also fortunate to receive a $5,000 grant from the New Jersey Federal Credit Union to fund our Pathways financial literacy workshops.

As always, thank you all for your continued hard work on behalf of our youth.

Sincerely,
