Marsha Married!

Board of trustees member Marsha Montgomery married George Mitchell this month. Marsha is board Secretary and chair of the strategic planning subcommittee. Somerset Home values the long friendship we have enjoyed with both Marsha and George and congratulate them on the occasion of their wedding.

Outcomes Evaluation

On June 22, 2005 program directors and case managers attended a full day training on outcomes evaluation at Rutgers University. This training was conducted by the Rensselaerville Institute. It is part of the child welfare reform program which includes new methods for measuring success with our clients. The State Department of Human Services is phasing in performance based contracting over five years. We are a few steps ahead of many other agencies because of our work with the Council on Accreditation but we will be taking a fresh look at our systems of measuring success in the next year as part of our continuous quality improvement program.

New Landscaping for Brahma House

As part of our capital improvement program, new arborvitae trees have been planted around the van parking area at Brahma House. For those of you who have had to battle the hanging branches of the white pine trees or were unlucky enough to get sap on your clothing or stuck on the windshield of one of the vans you know why this project was tackled. The new trees will provide a very nice living fence for the corner of the property and we will no longer have to contend with the sticky pine sap.

Parking Lot Sealing Week

The parking lots and driveways will all be closed from July 5-8. The driveways and parking areas will be sealed and then line striped. We should be able to park in the lots on Saturday, July 9, 2005. Please park in the street for these few days. If it rains, a rain date will be announced. Thank you for your cooperation during this disruptive but important preventative maintenance activity.

As always, thank you all for your continued hard work on behalf of our youth.

Sincerely,
