Region II - Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Training Conference - Ellenville, NY

Somerset Home staff Elizabeth Remeika, Scott Ruth, Paula Taylor and Danielle Thompson attended the Region II conference in Ellenville, NY.

On September 22-24, 2004 Somerset Home staff attended a training conference jointly sponsored by the Empire State Coalition and the Garden State Coalition. More than 120 youth serving staff from New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands RHY programs got together to share information about effectively working with runaway and homeless youth.

Anne Bradley Sosis and I presented a workshop on Continuous Quality Improvement for runaway and homeless youth programs. The power point and handouts from the workshop are available at http://www.gardenstatecoalition.org/pages/gscnews.html.

You can help by sending email to your friends and family through the active giving web site. If you have any questions about active giving please ask Tierney O'Donnell. She can help you set up your web page and upload pictures or whatever else you may need help with. I am confident that we can reach our $5,000 goal.

The Barbara Harley Concert on October 1, 2004 was fantastic. If you missed it please click on the photo for a short sample.

My Place Update

Amboy National Bank contributed $10,000 toward our efforts in developing My Place I and My Place II.

My Place I facility improvements continue and last week we passed our electrical inspection. The fire alarm equipment has been installed and we are expecting to have those inspections this week. Once all of these inspections are completed the furniture will be delivered and we will be ready to begin operations.

As always, thank you all for your continued hard work on behalf of our youth.

Sincerely,
