Transitional Learning Center Update

We welcome longtime Somerset Home volunteer, Roy Weiss as our new Educational Coordinator. Pictured above at our Bid for Better Futures charity auction, Roy has helped out with our special events for many years. Roy has a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a 25 year career as a New Jersey State Trooper.

My Place Update

Scott Ruth has made the transition from the Union County Basic Center program (UCBC) based out of the Somerset Youth Shelter to the My Place Case Manager position effective September 1, 2004. Scott has been assigned office space at Passages, sharing an office with Tia Jackson, our Pathways Foster Care Independent Living Skills Instructor.

My Place is still under renovation and and we hope to see the dust settle (literally) on these facility improvements by the end of October and have Scott moved into My Place on a full time basis at that time.

We welcome the support of K. Hovnanian Home Builders for $1,000 toward the My Place I and II effort this week.

LTD - Long Term Disability Insurance

Our long term disability (LTD) program went into effect on September 1, 2004 for all full-time staff (35 hours per week or more). I will make sure that the materials describing these benefits in detail are distributed as soon as we receive them from the insurance carrier.

As always, thank you all for your continued hard work on behalf of our youth.

Sincerely,
