"My Place"

The agency has found a suitable property for the My Place TLP. We are currently in the "attorney review" period for purchasing this single family home on Third Avenue in Bridgewater, which is a block over from our Passages program. This neighborhood is an ideal location due to its proximity to jobs, schools and our Pathways program.

The Day the Lights Went Out at SYS

Last Thursday, May 13th after an new air conditioner condenser was installed, one quarter of the power went out at the Somerset Youth Shelter. One of our main outdoor breakers had a given way under the stress of a heavy load. Luckily, we were able to get our electricians out the next day to replace the damaged equipment.

On Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at the Somerset County Freeholder's Meeting, longtime Somerset Home employee, George Quinn (3rd from left) received the "Older Worker Award" from John Graf from the Somerset County Office on Aging (at podium) and Freeholders Denise Coyle and Peter Palmer (2nd and 4th from left).

George had just returned from a one week cruise on the Queen Mary 2 and was surrounded by family and friends who came out to share in the celebration. The Older Worker Award is given to a senior citizen who is still actively employed. George celebrated his 70th birthday this year.
